Although mostly read by Jat Airways passengers during flights at altitudes between six to ten thousand meters, the magazine, nevertheless, does reach all destinations, the company’s offices abroad and branch offices at home, the many Jat partners and friends as well as all those that over the past 35 years have become its loyal associates and readers.
Jat Review first issue came out in the spring of 1975. Over the more than three decades, apart from permanent associates and photo reporters, nearly all most prominent members of the Yugoslav, and later Serbian journalism, literature and culture circles, wrote columns in New Review.
What They Said About Jat New Review:
Jovan Ćirilov, theatrologist: - As someone who frequently flies by Jat, I always find a copy in the seat pocket before me the latest issue of Jat New Review. Time passes much faster with the magazine in hand because it is with a particular freshness and competence that it informs about a variety of topics on life in our country and beyond. Some subjects are so thoroughly and professionally covered that I hold these issues in my library. The September issue is of particular importance to me because Review - since its inception - has been devoting several pages to BITEF, which I have headed since its founding. The foreign guests that participate in it, and most often fly by Jat to Belgrade, are thus already during flight in a position to gain a wealth of significant information about BITEF. Some of them that I meet as they land would tell me: "We have already met with you while onboard the airplane. We saw your photographs in Jat Review."
Vida Ognjenović, theater director: Jat Review, as we are used to calling your magazine, can withstand any comparative test with other high-quality publication of this kind in the world. Thematically interesting, it is a magazine informative just in the right measure, with culture adequately represented and with excellent photography. What can I say? During flight, I never pass over the opportunity to read it from cover to cover, and, if I’m unable to finish it due to chatting with my fellow travelers or for some other reason, I always take a copy with me to read later.
Dušan Ivković, basketball coach: - Sport and basketball have always been presented in Jat Review and I am pleased to accept interviews and take pleasure in fine cooperation with the magazine.
Vanja Udovičić, water polo player: - Jat Airways is always with us, and traveling onboard airplanes of the Serbian national air company I very often read also Jat Review. This magazine meets all in-flight magazine criteria; it is very much to the point and in its texts I invariably find things of special interest to me. It never misses to record our every trophy – something that indeed feels good to read about, as one hardly expects anyone to come out and praise one as one flies.
Jadranka Jovanović, opera singer: - I would like to remind readers that I once agreed to be photographed in the uniform of a Jat stewardess for the cover of Jat Review. Free of charge, of course. I think that this really illustrates how I feel about Jat and about New Review.
Zdravko Čolić, singer: - As I most frequently fly by Jat Airways, I am in regular contact with Jat Review. Returning from my tours overseas, I also have the opportunity to look through the magazines of other air companies. However, contact with Jat Review is somehow dearest to me. Probably because it is our magazine, but in terms of content and quality - it is world class.
Boško Jakšić, journalist: - Jat Review came into being 200 months ago as a result of a happy union of the flying and typing devices. Today, people’s appetites towards flying are growing, as the world with a degree of nostalgia watches e-technology’s attempts at pushing the press into oblivion. They seek new destinations, wish to discover new territories. For this reason, Jat Review, a magazine I ‘flew with’ more times than by Jat aircraft, must have a future. Happy birthday!
