Jat Airways air ticket discounts, applied until recently to the employees of Serbian flag carrier and members of their families, have been abolished until further notice by Jat Airways Director General Order. Until recently, the employees were entitled to up to 90 percent discount on ticket price. In the process, Jat Airways was paying taxes and contributions on this 90 percent discounts, treating them as part of employee's personal income. This decision is yet another measure taken by Jat Airways in the past period in order to cut losses and rationalise business operation.
"We will continue to carry out measures for cutting losses and creating profit in national budget. We are going to abolish any unnecessary cost and use all our resources and potentials in order to regain the position of regional leader in air traffic" said Srđan Radovanović, Jat Airways Director General, and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that "in the Company a will for change exists and that many understand how important it is for Serbian flag carrier to adjust the market and are ready to take active part in these changes."
After the arrival of new Jat Airways Director General in July this year, a way of conducting financial responsibility changed and new rule stipulating that apart from Director General only four managers are entitled to approve spending was introduced. This way, apart from loss control, a principle of personal, individual responsibility has been introduced in the financial sector. Within the measures for financially more responsible business operation, a contract on maintenance with "Jat tehnika" was signed. Unlike previous years, when some kind of monthly appanage was paid to "Jat tehnika" regardless of the amount of undertaken work, this contract is based on economical grounds and also allows significant cost reduction. |
